This lame statement you released last night and weak press conference you held today, regarding the CHOP shooting(s) shows just how little you’re in charge of Seattle.
(Police Chief Carmen Best, and Fire Chief Harold Scoggins, are both friends of mine, and I support them thoroughly. Yet I fear you’re going to throw one, or both of them, under the bus, before the Capitol Hill battleground is history.)
But this is YOUR responsibility! As Mayor of Seattle you’re in charge. How can you stand by and watch this “occupied protest” continue, and not do anything about it? No plans, no strategy, no solutions.
After the shootings this weekend, it’s painfully obvious neighborhoods cannot “police themselves,” nor provide professional medical assistance in an emergency.
And it’s certainly not about Black Lives Matter — that movement was hijacked weeks ago.
So I’m asking you to resign.
You’ve demonstrated through inaction that you’re not fit for the job, and you’ve shown no regard for the 99.5% of the us, the “non-vocal majority,” who want our streets open and our businesses safe.
You’ve proven that you’re unable to sense the distain, dissatisfaction and desperation that’s boiling up in our beloved city.
In my past letters, I encouraged you to “step up and lead.”
Now I’m asking you to step aside and resign!
