I’m sure most of you know by now, that I am quite a “history buff” and love studying about history from all over the world.
This book that I am reviewing the day, entitled “That’s Not in My American History Book” is a very good look at some of the historical folklore that we’ve been taught and tend to believe throughout the years. From his early back to our elementary school days, when we were taught about “Honest Abe Lincoln” and that “Washington Never Told a Lie”, we grew up leaving all kind of things and tend not to take the time to look at it even further.
In this book, author Thomas Ayres, shares with us interesting insight that he is researched about our American history. We will learn new things about Benjamin Franklin, the Wright brothers, 4 July/Independence Day, Andrew Jackson and so much more.
I really enjoyed it, but the old saying goes, the “the pen is mightier than the sword”, and after something is repeated often enough and throughout enough time, it becomes a “truism” that is almost impossible to go against.
I don’t think this book will change your mind on anything that we’ve learned throughout American history, but it’s nice to have “alternate facts”, and hopefully, these are actually true facts as well.
Enjoy reading a really good book, I know I did!
