This was a pretty straightforward book that took a look at the way our brains work, especially when we tend to get a little bit lazy, and began taking shortcuts and jumping to conclusions.
Our brains have evolved throughout our history, to detect patterns, therefore becoming more efficient, at picking out trends and predictable behaviors. Back in the old days, it was a matter of survival, but now, faced with more “non-life-threatening details” than ever before, we are also apt to make more mistakes than ever before. Albeit, most of the mistakes are something that we can live with (forgetting our passwords, forgetting where we placed our keys, not remembering that we’ve told the same story many times before, etc.), but this book points out that if we put a little more thought into how we think, our minds can work even better than ever before.
It was a very interesting and entertaining read of a lot of real-life situations that I’m sure we all can relate to.
