THE NBRPA ELECTS NEW MEMBERS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
CHICAGO (Oct. 17, 2017) – The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) has elevated four members to the Association’s Board of Directors beginning in 2018. Johnny Davis was elected in the NBA 60 and over category, and will be joined by James Donaldson, Jerome Williams and Sam Perkins who were elected to the at-large seats.
“This is an extremely exciting time for our Association as we look to bring new perspectives into our leadership team,” said (Interim) NBRPA President and CEO Scott Rochelle. “Johnny, James, Jerome and Sam bring incredible experience and expertise that will serve our membership well moving forward.”
Davis, Williams and Perkins will join the existing Board of Directors, which includes Chairman of the Board Johnny Newman, Vice Chairman Spencer Haywood, Treasurer Casey Shaw, Secretary Nancy Lieberman, Dwight Davis, Rick Barry, James Donaldson, David Naves and Eldridge Recasner. The group has been tasked with executing the Associations two-pronged mission to help former athletes and their family’s transition to life after basketball, while also impacting the community through sport.
The results were tabulated by the independent accounting firm, Wipfli LLP. Voting began on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Legends World Sports Conference in Los Cabos, Mexico and concluded on October 2, 2017.
The NBRPA is the official alumni association for former NBA and WNBA players and the only organization of its kind that is directly supported by both the NBA and National Basketball Players Association.
